Latest update (18/12/18): We went down to SPCA last Sunday to take the dog home because no one turned up to claim him. A potential adopter family (they eventually adopted him) went down too and together with them, we brought him to the vet for a thorough checkup. Happy to report that besides being severely malnourished, he’s all good! The vet said that it takes weeks and months for a dog to become just skin and bones. His hind legs are bent, which indicates that he was probably caged, if put very nicely, for a little too long. Now the focus is to fatten him up, increase his iron levels, and take care of his recovering wounds. We took care of him for a day while his new family went home and prepared for his arrival. In a day, his energy levels went up and he turned out to be a really manja dog. His new name is now Cotton and he will be loved by his new family of 4 humans! Just in time for Christmas! SPCA also called today and told us that AVA found that an owner actually registered him but when they called him, he said he has no time to pick up the dog and the new owner can keep him. To us, it’s clear he abandoned the dog and severely neglected him. Unfortunately, he probably wouldn’t be punished but karma will one day do the job. For those who are planning to get a new dog, please please please ensure that you know it’s a lifetime commitment and they deserve love, care, and companionship for life. Do not get a dog if you are not ready for the responsibilities and commitment. —— Today we found a lost/abandoned dog along Punggol Waterway. He was emaciated and had a raw wound on each side of his body probably due to skin issues. We brought him home, gave him a good bath, trimmed his fur, cleaned his ears, and cut his nails. He also had a yummy meal before we passed him to SPCA. SPCA will be looking for the owner and if no one shows up, he will be in their care until someone adopts him. If he’s your dog, do call them! —- Update 1: SPCA just called us and said the vet has seen the dog and he seems to be well except for some skin issues. They will be giving him some medications and will also be vaccinating him. Starting tomorrow, they will be looking for his owner and by Sunday if no one takes him, he will be up for adoption. Rest assured we will help to look for a good home for him once he’s ready. Thanks, everyone for your care and concern!
